Day 6- The Big Shuffle!

Day 6!

After Day 5's harvest, I was excited to move stuff around and get my zucchinis out of their temporary home and into a more permanent place.

I made the mistake of buying too many Zuke plants, but hey, I was excited that all the plants were 1/2 off at Home Depot. But, here is the Daily Garden Porn I promised you. :)

The Right Side. You can see that I moved my hydrangea, and I replanted my squash. Also, if you look just between the hydrangea and the squash, you'll notice a sad little rosemary. This little guy is currently in intensive care and we are a day by day basis with him. :(
Just a pic of the upper right side to show how the rest of the herbs are doing.  Check out that lettuce!! That little hair cut really made it look a lot healthier. Same with my Chives.
Just a quick pic of the petunias and strawberries. Watch the growth of the petunias. Every time I come outside its like the petunia doubles in size!
Close up of my tomatoes and pansies! Check out those clearance pansies!! I got those for super cheap thinking they probably wouldn't bloom and they are just going CRAZY!
This is a pic of the lower right side. My mints are going crazy! My roses are going crazy and my squash is super happy to be in its new home! ...but, there is my sad rosemary. :(
My Hydrangea! It's getting too much direct sun so the blooms are a little cooked. The tag said full sun, but upon further investigation I discovered that these flowers typically come from northern states whee hydrangeas can tolerate full sun because the temps are cooler. However, I live in GA and not only does this guy have full sun, he has full heat too. So, I need to figure something out.
My Vine Side! lol. All of the containers shown (except for the topmost red container in the very back of the pic) are full of zucchinis. They are all very happy in their new homes. Some of the Zukes have roomies, some are happy in solitude. I just planted at random. I also bought a cool stand the will (eventually) have 3 pots on top of each other. Oh yeah, and the 2 little Zukes in the tiny parts are going to my moms. :)
My sweet watermelon. I love these little cuties!! There are 2 plants in there and I am really hoping that they co-habitate well and don't choke each other out. So far so good. :)
So there you have it for Day 6. Was fun moving everyone around and I hope they all like their new homes. We probably won't have another move unless someone gets too big for their britches.

Oh yeah, I need to note that I bought a couple things for this move. I bought 2 more pots from Wal-mart. (the colored pots all come from Wal-mart.) If you asked me what I thought about those pots I think I would tell you that I am satisfied. I mean, they aren't exactly awesome pots, but they were cheap as hell and you can't beat that on my budget. Also, they hang onto water like as if it were money. (Which I guess is good?) The only thing I am worried about is that as my plants get bigger and their roots spread out, Im afraid they may get root rot if they stay too wet. On the other hand, it may be useful if they drink up as much water as I anticipate they will... Either way, my fiancĂ© drilled a couple extra holes in some of them. So, we'll see.

One of the other things I bought was the plant stand. This thing is pretty cool. However, it isn't the most stable thing ever. I bought 2 and eventually I am going to try to stack 3 pots instead of 2. I mean, for the price it was kind of worth it, but now I'm thinking my zukes my not get as much light. So, this stand thing is proving to be an experiment in progress.

I also purchased in this trip, some more potting soil. I bought some cheap kind this time. It also came from Wal-mart, but it will work. I got Scott's Potting Soil w/ Moisture...something or other. When I tried to look up a pic on the internet all I could find was the regular potting soil and not the exact kind I got. But it seems to be holding up okay too... Here is the regular bag:

Also, upon further investigation, Scotts makes EVERYTHING! Miracle Gro, Hyponex, EVERYTHING!! So, I'm hoping that means that all this soil I bought (whether it be top shelf or bottom shelf) is all good stuff and not the alternative that it is all cheap stuff. That would suck if my expensive, fancy soil was just as good as the cheap Wal-mart jazz. :-/

But, anyway. Thats it for Day 6. :)
